Put In The Sifter

Luke 22:31-32

31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren

This verse has puzzled me for a while, but then it clicked. When you sift wheat, you are separating it and breaking it down. That is what the devil wishes to do. He wants to pull us away from our joy and happiness. He wants to beat us down until we lose our faith and give up. That is why Christ told Peter that he prayed for his faith. He did because as long as we hold to our faith the devil has lost. Then when others look at us they will see us standing strong in the storm. They can get hope in seeing us holding to our faith and know that they can make it as well. Do not let the enemy win and take your blessings. Keep your faith strong and Christ will not let us be sifted.
