1 John 2:1-2
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
No one is perfect. No one will get saved/born again and be perfect. We will always battle our own flesh and sometimes we fall short. However, if we have and advocate with the father, a relationship with Christ, God will forgive us. It is like going to court with no knowledge of the law or no remorse the judge usually will throw the book at you. Now if you have a good lawyer who knows that law and shows that you have remorse, they can take the wrath of that judge and calm it. Jesus is our great lawyer. He talks on our behalf to the Father. He calms the wrath and gives us the grace we are in no way worthy of. We will mess up and fall short, but our advocate will wipe our slate clean. Now I am not saying that it is ok to go out and sin. I am saying that if and when you do talk to our advocate and with remorse ask for forgiveness, but don’t just pray then, always pray and make that advocate more of a friend than a lawyer.
