Fear Not the Evildoer

Psalms 37:1-3

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Why have Christians become so afraid? Why are we cowering in fear? Should we truly worry what the world can do to us? Absolutely not. We serve a mighty God. He promises us his protection and the Bible tells us that he is our protector. It makes your think of weeds in a garden. They will kill all your pants, but a good gardener will pluck them out and cast them to the side with ease, and therefore protects his crop. The weeds will wither and dry. It is the same as mowing a lawn. When you are finished look at the clippings, if you do not pick them up, and you will see they are withered and dead. God says those who do evil will be cut down. Now many may say, “God is love and does not do that.” Well if you read the Bible you will see that same loving God is very jealous and will deal out justice to those who do evil. Even in the New Testament he promises that one day he will lay waist to those that chose the world over him and tried to persecute his children, because that is what we are. We have to trust in him and know that he will protect us, if we do good and his will. He promises he will never let us go without food. It may not be the filet mignon we wanted, but we will be fed. I think I will stick with the God who tells me that he will protect me and even shows examples of how he has done so before. I know I would not want to be on the other side, the people who do evil and attack our faith, face his wrath and be cut down as the green herb.
