Revelations 3:3-5
3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
We all want to be labeled an overcomer. We all want to be called a strong person. We talk about how we overcome a hard life. We talk about how we overcome debt. We speak of how we overcame what people said we would not amount to anything. So, why are we not doing this when we face temptation? The Bible says if we overcome temptation we will be clothed in white raiment and Christ will confess our names before the father. We overcome our temptation by resisting and not giving in. At first it is hard to do. However, the longer you resist the easier it will become. It’s like people who quit smoking. At first it is awful. They want a cigarette so bad they can taste it, but the longer they go without one the easier it becomes. If you want to be an overcomer and have your name confessed to the father, stay strong and resist the temptation.
