Genesis 45:4-5


4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

Joseph had been sold by his jealous brothers into slavery. They did not know he had risen to a powerful position in Egypt. He had the perfect opportunity to get his revenge and most of us would say he was justified. He could of had them thrown in prison or even put to death. That is what most of us would have done. However, that is not what God wants us to do. All of his trials had been part of God’s plan. He took his brothers in and made sure they survived the famine that was currently going on at the time. He let it go and helped those that had done him wrong. You will face people who betray you, misuse you, and cheat you. It may be jealousy that causes them to do it or just they are cruel people, but one day that same person may show up and need help. Be like Joseph and help them. Show the love of Christ. Be the bigger person and show the enemy you are greater than revenge.
