Isaiah 38:2-6
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.
The man of God was facing death. He could have gave in and turned against God. Instead, he turned and prayed and reminded God of his life. God heard his prayer. Maybe that is what God was wanting him to do. However, God did not just add year unto Hezekiah, he also delivered his city. You see sometimes God will let troubles come our way just to see if we will turn to him. Many times people will forget that they serve a mighty God. They forget about all the trouble God has brought them through. They don’t look back and say, “God you brought me through that, now I am trusting you to take me through this.” If God can give a dying man more years to live and deliver his city from the enemy, what more can he do for us? Remember to be more like Hezekiah. Remember how God has walked with you.
