Revelations 1:17:18

17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, made it clear to John that he is alive forever more. He made it clear that he holds the keys to death and hell. Those three things have more power than we realize. The fact that even though he faced death, he still won. That means death has no hold on him. He is making it clear that he is the way to eternal life. He then proceeded to take the keys to death and hell. He wants us to know nothing that the devil throws our way is to great for him. John who had walked with him and saw him in life was astonished at the true might that he couldn’t stand before him. He saw our mighty king who was more powerful than death and all of hell. We need to realize, just like John did, our king is greater than anything we face. So when you become afraid of the circumstances of the world, remember our mighty King Jesus is stronger than all that tries to rise against him.
