No Excuses

Galatians 6:9

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not

Today I found myself exhausted. I couldn’t get the energy to do much of anything. When my wife got home from work I made myself get up and cook dinner, its her birthday. I could have just laid on the couch and talked her into ordering out, but it was so much better to give her a home cooked meal. It was even better for me as well because I got to eat something healthier than a restaurant. I got to reap the rewards of my work. That is how it is as Christians. We have those days when there is work to be done, but we struggle to find the energy to do it. Excuses will run through our minds and we begin to search for whichever will be the best. It is the easy path to take. However, what if Jesus had laid the cross down because he didn’t have energy to make the walk. Kind of puts it in a different light now doesn’t it. You see when there is work to be done, which there always is, God expects us to get up and get to work. We should push aside the feeling of exhaustion and dig deep inside ourselves to do the work God is sending us to do. It’s not easy to wake up in the middle of the night and pray for someone who has called, but it is our job. It is not easy to preach a message after working all day but God will give you the strength. It is not easy to go against everything society says is acceptable, but God will make you bold. Don’t fall weak or make excuses, work through to reap your reward.
