Acts 5:27-29
27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men
We think we have it hard today because people complain when we speak the truth. The apostles would get thrown in jail for what they would preach and would continue to spread the word. They chose to listen to God over the rules that was in affect at that time. They would rather be stoned to death than to back up. Even in today’s time we have people in other countries that choose God over the governments law. We are blessed that we never have had to make that choice. But what if they outlawed our beliefs? What if they made it a law that we could no longer meet in our churches to worship? How many would stand true in thier faith and continue to spread the word of God? Would you be willing to give your life in hopes to bring others to Christ? These men did not care and even told them that they would obey God no matter what. We have to be this way. We have to stand strong when the world turns against us. We have to hold to our faith and convictions when we are told that we have to change with the times. Most of all we have to listen and obey God over men. I for one will obey God and continue my work for him. I will not back up on my faith. I will spread the word. Because when it is all said and done I would rather obey God than bow to man.
