1 Corinthians 12:26-27
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
I have heard this passage used so many times, usually by my father talking about hitting his thumb with a hammer. It goes of how that one little finger hurts so bad. I would laugh about it. Never thought much about it. That was until here recently. I have found it hard to run or do most cardio due to pain in the middle of my right foot. I thought I could grit my teeth and make it through it. I was wrong the pain got worse and I had to set down and rest. It made me think of how when one member suffers the whole body does and how my whole body wanted that one member to stop hurting. Then it hit me, the whole body should suffer with that member, but we have become disconnected from one another that we don’t feel that persons pain. I know I am going a different direction than most but, I have set in churches and watched people ask for prayer over a situation and others will role thier eyes and have no compassion. That is not what Christ wanted and would not approve of. Now, I’m not saying you break your leg if thier leg is broke, but you should feel a burden in your spirit for them. You should want them to overcome thier situation. We should feel the need to pray for them and encourage them not to give up. If we can get to the point to share in the suffering of every member then we can also share and rejoice in the honor of thier victory. Let’s get back to helping our brother and sisters with thier burdens.
