The Cavalry

Psalm 34:7-8

7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

In movies about old wars, where they are still fighting with swords and spears, the good guys always get pinned down. They are surrounded and outnumbered. Defeat is moments away and then over the horizon the cavalry comes riding in. It makes you wonder how long they had been there and why did they wait. Well, that is how some of us are with God. We feel pinned down and feel as if we are moments away of throwing in the towel. We feel that at any moment the enemy is going to deliver the final blow. We know God is there and he as always arrived and won us the battle. We ask why does he make us wait. We want to know why do we even have to fight the battle when God is more powerful than anything the enemy can throw at us. Well, without the battle there is not victory. Without the attacks we forget that we even have to trust in God. Sometimes we make decisions that put us in the battle and God has to rescue us, and other times God is just waiting on us to admit we cannot win the fight without him. Most of all, the battle makes us stronger. All you need to realize is that God is there the whole time and he will not let you be defeated. So, trust that the cavalry is going to arrive and the enemy will fall.
