Leviticus 1:2-3
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the Lord, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.
3 If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord.
John 1:29
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
The Levitical law required man to sacrifice an animal to absolve him of his sins. It wasn’t easy either. A perfect offering had to be presented. It could not have spot nor blemish. It had to be virtually perfect. Then something changed. A truly perfect lamb was born. It had no spot, no blemish, and never gave into the sin of the world. The lamb was not an it, it was a who. The Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. He knowingly came from heaven to take on the sin of the world in order to be the ultimate sacrifice. He was no mindless animal that we raised and then chose out of a heard. He himself chose the path he took. He did not have to be held down for a sacrificed, he did so willingly. Jesus did this with no second though. He did this because he loved us and wanted to pave our way to paradise. So, the question remains, if the sacrifice has been made and all you have to do is accept him, why haven’t you done so?
