Matthew 5:38-40
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
If I do you wrong is it okay for you to return the favor? The answer is no. Christ wants us to be at a point to were we can be punched in the face and keep from hitting them back. The love that Christ had was strong enough to take the beating he recieved during the crucifixion and yet he never raised a hand. Think, what if you return the evil that was done to you? It does not matter what that person did to you, all anyone will hear about is what you have done and with that your testimony is destroyed. That is what Christ is trying to get across to us. He wants to know that all people will see how we handle when we are done wrong. If we have a close enough walk with Christ, we can turn and pray instead of striking back. If we can get to this point we take the fire out of the enemy. It gives us the high road instead of lowering ourselves to their level. So the next time you are done wrong, do not strike back, turn and began to pray.
