2 Chronicles 1:10-12
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
God asked the king what he wanted. He would have given him what ever he asked, but Solomon asked for wisdom to rule his people the right way. I see so many people beg God for material things. They want new cars, bigger houses, or a job that pays more. They forget with that new car comes a bigger payment. That bigger house comes with more up keep. That better job comes with more responsibility. If you think about it, it would be better to ask God for the wisdom to move up in your job, wisdom to save money for that new vehicle, and wisdom on what house to buy. Solomon could have been like most of us and asked for his enemies kingdoms to be his, but without wisdom to rule they would have fallen. If he had asked for riches but no wisdom to spend them, he would have been broke. If he had asked for honour and his kingdom had fallen it would have meant nothing. When he asked for wisdom he recieved riches and honour. God can bless us more than we can imagine but first we have to ask him for his wisdom. Be like Solomon and seek wisdom first and see what follows.
